What is a cold plunge?
A cold therapy tub, AKA “cold plunge,” is essentially a manufactured environment or an environmental control apparatus.
Cold therapy tubs are designed to immerse the body in cold water, (cold water immersion) typically at temperatures between 37 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit (3-18 degrees Celsius).

How it’s Built
The main shell of the tub is made from plastic in a rotational molding factory. Once the shell is formed, we cut out the bottom and install the plumbing components, including the main suction drain fitting, inlet return fittings, and light sockets.
Next, we install a service compartment at the rear of the tub. This compartment houses the mechanical components, including the plumbing, service valves, unions, circulation pump, water filter, water inlet and outlet fittings, and a watertight electrical box.
Once the service compartment is in place, we complete the assembly by installing the tubing that connects to the LED light sockets, eight LED lights, a switch, the main power cord, a voltage adapter, a terminal strip for the light wiring, and other components.
Finally, we insulate the tub body with 2 lb closed-cell spray foam. This foam provides excellent insulation and improves the structural strength of the tub.

About Us
The Cube LLC is a family-owned business founded with a commitment to health and wellness.
I am Adam Hanson, the developer of The Cube cold therapy tub. My wife Gina, our daughter Olivia, and our son Daniel reside in Big Lake, Minnesota.
My journey into cold water immersion began as a response to debilitating health challenges. For years, I struggled with persistent brain fog, lightheadedness, and disorientation, which left me searching for answers that no physician could provide. This ordeal also led to significant anxiety and panic attacks. Inspired by the teachings of WimHof, I began practicing his method, which emphasizes deep breathing and cold water immersion.
During this tumultuous period, I was under immense stress: I welcomed a newborn in December 2020, launched a spray foam insullation business, and worked full-time while navigating the COVID-19 pandemic alongside my health issues. It was a challenging time, and I’m grateful to have discovered the benefits of cold water immersion, which proved to be life-changing for me.
Through self-education, I realized my health struggles stemmed from severe inflammation caused by leaky gut syndrome and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), conditions exacerbated by antibiotics taken years prior to treat an MRSA infection, and by the various stresses in my life. This leaky gut allowed harmful bacteria and toxins into my bloodstream, ultimately compromising my blood-brain barrier and leading to debilitating neuro-inflammation. I reached a point where being awake became a daunting experience.
Fortunately, cold water immersion provided a much-needed remedy to my debilitating condition. The extensive health benefits of cold water therapy became evident to me. Initially, I tried cold showers, but when it came to cold baths, I found lying down in my bathtub filled with freezing water to be extremely uncomfortable. I couldn’t find anything that allowed me to be in a crouched position, or anything that had a built in bench seat. When I was unable to find a tub on the market that had my desired features, I set out to create a superior cold therapy tub—one that prioritized comfort while enhancing the cold water immersion experience. My goal was to design a product that caters to the needs of individuals seeking both physical and mental well-being.
Now, with The Cube, I am excited to share this journey with others. I believe that many people can benefit from the profound health advantages that cold water immersion offers, and I am here to help you embark on your own journey toward improved well-being and a healthier life.

Safety Considerations
CWI can offer several health benefits, but it’s essential to approach this practice with caution due to potential risks. One of the most obvious risks is hypothermia, as immersing in cold water significantly drops body temperature. To prevent hypothermia, limit immersion time to no more than 10 minutes.
Furthermore, it is important to understand the cold shock response. Entering cold water suddenly can trigger an involuntary gasp reflex followed by hyperventilation. Hyperventilation increases the risk of drowning (especially in open water plunging) and can also lead to arrhythmias or even a heart attack, particularly in those with underlying heart issues. To better manage the cold shock response, it’s advised to enter the water slowly, allowing your body to adjust to the temperature gradually.
It is also important to never swim alone regardless of your swimming strength or experience. Having a partner ensures that help is readily available in case of an emergency, such as cramps, sudden illness, or difficulty in the water.
Finally, remember to allow your body to gradually acclimatize to whatever CWI technique you choose. If you are a beginner, begin with shorter durations (2 minutes) in warmer water (roughly 20°C, 68°F), progressively moving to colder temperatures with longer durations as your body adapts.
